Month in and month out, 30,000 people in the county turn to the Food Bank Coalition because they lack the means to have reliable access to food. When you support the Food Bank Coalition, you not only help put a meal on a table, but you also take a hard decision off someone’s plate.

Sebastiana, from Paso Robles, recently traveled to a distribution at nearby 2nd Baptist Church. She is grateful not only for the difference it makes in helping her feed her family but in the quality of the food. “I especially enjoy the fruits and vegetables I can get here. We have three children and I’m able to cook healthier meals for my family. We live on a budget and this food definitely helps out a lot.”

William, also at the distribution, suffered an injury to his spinal cord when he was just 21 years old. He and his wife raised three sons in the area. Now that he and his wife get by just on social security he has come to rely on this food to stretch his family budget. “It helps us make ends meet. The food is really good quality here, the bread is fresh and we always enjoy the variety of vegetables,” he said.

Cindy is an unsung hero and a resource to a number of people who live on a fixed income in the area. She is an upbeat person and serves as a caregiver to several people who are homebound. She is employed through In Home Support Services. Today she is picking up for a client named Riva who suffers from polio. “Several of my clients are in a position where it’s a real struggle to be able to afford the food they need. I’m so happy that the Food Bank Coalition can fill in the gaps with some really very good nutrition,” said Cindy.
